Long Island City, NY (June 20, 1999) — Following the success of last year’s Warm Up series, P.S.1 presents an expanded summer festival, running for twelve weekends, from June 26 through September 4. Every Saturday from 4 to 9 pm, P.S.1 will host a show-down of live and electronic music in the stylish ourtdoor disco pavilion designed by Philip Johnson. With last year’s program featuring dj celebrities such as Dimitri of Paris and Bob Sinclar, this year’s series will include a diverse program of experimental electronic, acoustic punk, house, old school hip hop, lounge, jazz, and break beat, with any number of collaborations and cross-pollinations.

Among the artists participating over the course of the summer are Egyptian dj Mutamassik, providing hard breaks; French electro-pop group Navis, combining a 007 spy aesthetic with melodic vocals in French and Japanese; the seven-piece Les Sans Culottes, "masters of French Roque and Roll;" long-time San Francisco hip hop, break beat, and house dj Spun, known in the Bay Area as "DJ Spun the Break Beat King;" original junglists of the New York scene Del Mar & Cassien.

Speech of Arrested Development will perform on July 3rd. On July 31 P.S.1 will host an index magazine concert, to celebrate the magazine’s upcoming CD. DJ Monica, founder of Tommy Boy Records, will be one of the featured guests. On August 28 P.S.1 welcomes hard driving dead end rockabilly kids from Chicago Hi- Fi and the Roadburners. Other artists on the bill for summer include: Parker, FISCHER.SPOONER, Reid Speed, and Pan Sonic, Jim O’Rourke, and djs from Cultural Alchemy’s Soundlab, among others.
