it’s all a façade.
it’s meant to trick you.
it’s meant to seduce you.
...and me too.
i cannot realize my own pleasure,
though i am pleased by it –
though i want to give pleasure to it.
it pulls me out.
it draws me in.
i am afraid you’ll discover its emptiness excites me.
[i am being pleased by it.]
[i am giving pleasure to it.]
looping from scene to scene,
it is an apparatus void of complete exchange.
it holds me to the display.
it puts me on display.
its impenetrable visions of vacancy
interrupt me without warning.
a cut.
tension.
this is the life and logic
accelerated by the corporation of running_man*
Jeff Mathews is an artist/designer
currently living in the the New York City area. He was born in Durham, NC in 1970 and
spent his formative years in Lancaster, PA. Shortly after receiving his degree in
Sociology, he moved to
Copenhagen, Denmark for five years where he developed his design skills. He currently
heads a collaborative group called STP Labs (www.stplabs.com) which uses art/design to
express the impact of modern technology/information on contemporary culture. To contact
