Illumination
As morning inhales light
I exhale the sticky patterns
of my past, soon to become present.
Illuminated by stillness they hang,
pale strands of emotional DNA delicately
collecting my fears like fly paper,
quilting the air with whispers that
soon there will be no room for me
in the thickness of my thoughts.
Moving slowly towards the door
I hold my breath to stop the flow
and seek out a mirror to condense
my echoes into one moist spot
to be rubbed off and forgotten
until the next day’s dawn...
Tina Seligman is a mixed
media artist and writer who has shared her love for combining art disciplines through
workshops and as a NYSCA Artist-in-Residence. She enjoys studying many forms of music and
dance which often inspire her artwork. Tina’s writing has appeared in art and
literary publications, including Art Times, Magazine.art, The Moon as Text, Prayers to
Protest, Pudding Magazine, Onionhead and Cicada Haiku Quarterly. |
